Instructions + Preparation

Supplement + Medication Considerations:

I recommend a 2 week cleanout of ALL supplements if possible.

  • Stop taking for at least THREE (3) DAYS prior to stool collection.

    • All digestive support supplements like HCL, Hydrozyme, Betaine Plus, Critical Digest, Beta Plus, Beta TCP, Digestzymes, TUDCA, gut healing formulas.

    • Regular probiotics like Therbiotic Complete or others contacting strains like lactobacillus or bifidobacterium. Also kombucha, sauerkraut, and yogurt.

  • Stop taking for TWO (2) weeks prior to stool collection

The following MUST be removed for 2 weeks in advance:

    • all soil based or spore based probiotics like Megaspore and ProFlora4R

    • all anti-parasitic, anti-fungal, and antibacterial agents

    • all NSAIDS (Tylenol, Advil)

    • Bismuth (Pepto Bismal)

    • Prednisone: If you doctor has prescribed prednisone for short term treatment, wait until 2 weeks after that course of medication is completed.

    • Antibiotics: Plan to take to test when you are NOT taking antibiotics. If you are currently on a course of antibiotics, finish that, wait two (2) weeks and then complete the stool test.

  • Prescription medications should be taken in accordance with your doctor's instructions and may be continued.

Stop Taking FOUR (4) Weeks prior to RETEST after a protocol.

  • Antimicrobials, eradication agents

  • Biofilm disruptors

Dietary Fats

Eat 70-100 grams of fat each day for three (3) days in a row before collection.

Here are some meal combinations for reference. This does not have to be exact but aim for more rather than less.

Dietary- Gluten

If you plan to test for gluten sensitivity, you must eat at least 3 servings of gluten grains the week before the collection. For those who already know they are sensitive, this is not recommended. If you are currently avoiding gluten, we recommend continuing to do so.

Other Considerations

1. Do not collect your sample while menstruating as blood is a contaminant that will void the test.

2. If you want to know if you have a reaction to gluten, be sure to have at least three servings of bread, pasta or other gluten-containing grains during the week before collecting your stool specimen.

3. You can drink Senna tea for help with bowel movements if needed.

YOUR TEST KIT:

1. We will mail your test kit to you.

2. Before collection, make sure to read the collection instructions included in the kit.

3. Do not mail kit over holidays as the lab will be closed.

4. Follow instructions included in the kit to mail the kit back to the lab

5. Be sure to write your name and date of birth on all vials.

6. You will find a prepaid FedEx sticker inside the kit to mail to mail the specimen to the lab. Simply drop it at any FedEx pick up facility.

Let us know if you have any questions!

Optional... but not for highly reactive or sensitive people

Biofilm Disruptor

In some cases, it is useful to take a biofilm disruptor supplement prior to conducting the stool test. It is often the case that pathogenic bugs in the digestive microbiome will hide inside of the biofilm, a slimey substance that attaches to the intestinal walls and inside of which many bugs live. When these bugs are inside of a biofilm, they will not as readily be released and might not be found in a stool sample. Disrupting the biofilm, allows us to gain more clarity about what is actually happening in the digestive system.

Generally recommend 2 Interfase plus 2x/day away from food for two weeks. Then wait THREE (3) days before collecting stool sample.
